Automotive Lift Preventive Maintenance in Tampa, FL

A lift that's maintained on schedule is safer, lasts longer and doesn't go down in the middle of a busy day. Blue Wave Lift & Equipment keeps your lifts on the maintenance they need. We're the Tampa lift specialists who have been keeping Florida shops running since 1989, back when we were A&W Maintenance. Our factory-trained technicians service lifts of every make and model for dealerships, municipal fleets, independent shops and home garages across 27 Florida counties, and we tell you the truth about what your equipment needs.

What's included in lift preventive maintenance

Preventive maintenance follows the lift manufacturer's instructions and the planned-maintenance requirements of ANSI/ALI ALOIM, the national standard for lift operation, inspection and maintenance. During service, our technician cleans, lubricates, adjusts and checks the parts that wear. We look for problems before they turn into failures, and we only recommend repairs your lift actually needs. If a part still has life in it, we say so. Any replacement parts are OEM-approved or meet the original manufacturer's specifications, as ALOIM requires.

Preventive maintenance checklist

  • Lubricate sheaves, pulleys, slide blocks, pivot pins and moving parts
  • Inspect and adjust cables and chains for wear, fraying and equalization
  • Check hydraulic fluid level and condition; inspect cylinders, hoses and fittings for leaks
  • Test mechanical safety locks and lock releases on every lift
  • Check arm restraints, adapters and pads; replace worn pads
  • Check anchor bolts and base plates; check the concrete around the base
  • Inspect the power unit, motor, wiring and controls
  • Check air lines and pneumatic lock systems, where equipped
  • Verify smooth raising and correct lowering speed
  • Confirm safety labels, capacity plate and operating instructions are present and legible
  • Review findings and recommended repairs with you

Why preventive maintenance matters: safety, compliance and uptime

Automotive lifts are safety-critical equipment. ANSI/ALI ALOIM makes the lift owner or employer responsible for planned maintenance by qualified personnel, at the frequency the manufacturer specifies. It also requires replacement parts that are approved by the original manufacturer or meet its specifications. Safety officials, including OSHA under its General Duty Clause, look for evidence that lifts are inspected and maintained.

Regular maintenance also pays for itself. It protects your technicians from lift-related accidents, avoids surprise breakdowns that take a bay out of service, keeps service technicians productive and lowers long-term repair costs. It complements your required annual inspection; it doesn't replace it. See ALI Certified Lift Inspections.

Lift maintenance FAQ

How often should an automotive lift be serviced?

Follow the lift manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. Lifts that get heavy daily use generally need attention more often. We'll recommend a schedule based on your lifts and how hard they work. In addition, every lift needs an inspection by a qualified lift inspector at least once a year under ANSI/ALI ALOIM.

Is preventive maintenance the same as the annual inspection?

No. Maintenance keeps the lift in good working order through lubrication, adjustment and replacing wear parts. The annual inspection is a documented safety check by a qualified inspector. We do both; see our ALI Certified Lift Inspections.

Do you maintain lifts you didn't install, or other brands?

Yes. We service lifts of every make and model, including Rotary, BendPak, Challenger, Forward and legacy brands, no matter who installed them.

What happens if you find a problem?

We show you what we found and explain what it means. We recommend only the repairs the lift actually needs, and our factory-trained technicians can make the repairs.

Do you offer emergency service?

Yes. Same-day and emergency dispatch is available in Tampa Bay. During business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM), call 813-620-3393. After hours, email service@bluewavelift.com. We monitor the inbox and respond as quickly as possible.
